Are Cover Letters Really Important

Do recruiters read cover letters? Hmmmmmm, personally I don’t. You might ask “Why Joy?”
Wellllllllllll, I find most if not all cover letters I read boring. It’s the same old talk e.g I can work in a fast paced environment, I am driven, I am a team player blah blah blah…..and some recruiters/hiring authorities are like me. BUT hold on, some recruiters DO read it and as a candidate play it safe and write one.

If you do write a cover letter, don’t make it BORING!!! LET IT BE WORTH READING.

HOW TO MAKE IT INTERESTING

  1. Do a proper research on the company. STOP sending out one fit all cover letters.
  2. Tell them what you like about their company and why you want to work there e.g XYZ ltd is the leading manufacturer of baby products. Your top of the line diaper has improved the quality of my baby’s night rest and I have become a firm believer in your products. This is why I am applying for the position of a sales manager in your organization.
  3.  Talk about your achievements and why you think you are a perfect fit.
  4.  Be concise and direct at the same time personal.

For your next cover letter, put in the work and reap the rewards of getting more call backs for interviews
